View Full Version : Slow scanning now

I made a couple of changes recently, and I'm not sure if one of them changed my scanning speed or not.
First, I just installed Vista on my laptop. Second, I just enabled the serial input for the LC-1 and am now logging in the scan tool with serial data.
I am running 7.5.4 build 50. I have 19 pids selected, 23 channels, 4 selected packets. Any other important info I need to supply? Any ideas? Hopefully it's something simple that I'm overlooking.

Anyone else having this issue? I checked the scan speed preferences (where you can choose Generic/Dynamic/Low speed/high speed or whatever) and it's on high speed.

See Appendix E of the scantool user manual pdf.

I read all of that and I still think there is another issue. I have Streaming fast selected. I'm running Vista on a 2.0ghz dual core machine with 2 gb ram...the PC should be plenty fast. I'm still only getting the 5 fps scan rate.

Nevermind. I was watching the frame counter and it's going about 10 fps, even though the chart display updates a lot slower than it used to. It seems "chunky" now, instead of smooth and continuous.

Maybe look at Edit->Properties->Playback->Update display frequency.
Is your antivirus/antispyware doing busy work at this time...?

No antivirus or spyware software installed. My update display frequency was set to every 2 frames...I'm going to try 1. I think this should fix it. Thanks for the help :D

How "big" is your PC/laptop (speed, memory, HDD)...?

Just went out and did some logging and everything looks good...it was the display update rate that you pointed me to. Thanks :)
