Ok. I have a tune for my truck. I went to compare to two tunes and it said the loaded tune had a different operating system.

What are my options here? Load the new tune? I would really like to compare between the two files.

Sorry for the newbie question..

You have to open 2 different instances of the Tune Tool right now to compare tunes with different OSs. I think Ross/Paul mentioned that in V8 cross-OS compare will be possible, but dont quote me for sure on that. I sure hope it is... :D

Ok. Would it be a bad choice to do a full flash with a different operating system?

Not necessarily, assuming the new operating system is compatible with the PCM in which it will be residing. (That shouldn't be a problem because I don't think FlashScan will allow you to flash a PCM/ECM with an incompatible operating system.) If it doesn't perform properly, you can always reflash the PCM with the original operating system.

If you want to do an actual compare between two different operating systems, you can usually open two windows and do a copy and paste of the tables you want to compare from the new operating system into the original one. Then save the newly created file under a new name (Save As) and you'll be able to do a compare. Be sure to use a descriptive name so that two weeks from now you'll know what the file contains.

Here's how you compare two tune files having the same OS:
