Considering tuning for gas savings on an Impala 3800 2005 model. The vehicle does a lot of parking lot drivers training and idling.

How much could I save by tuning for mileage???

Thanks in advance guys!!!

I don't know about the 3800...

but my stock 2001 LS1 mileage went from 18 MPG (stock) to 22 MPG (OLSD)...

I set my "lean cruise" AFR to 15.00 (EQ 0.975)... (it's not really lean cruise... it's B3605 CFOL table).

Thanks Joecar!!!, I am asking my employer to allow me to tune their fleet. They have hundreds! I feel the savings in fuel will be substantial and I can benefit from them sending me to efi 101 and spending company time tuning.

I honestly don't think there is huge improvements in the 3800. A guy I know knows one of the OEM Calibrators and said that he tuned them very well factory, getting it dialed in very very well, so there isn't much room, at least on the 3800 timing to get much.

You can do trans tuning and such, but be careful with mixture, don't wanna get the spot light on you for that....
