Hi Guys "and maybe Gals", Upload your unsupported 4 cly .cals in this thread if you can find any. I have 2 im building right now, it will be a day or so. But from now on just dump them here and you should get the .cax file to put in so you can edit them.

I get to many emails on my account so things get missed if i dont do it this way.

I've got an unsupported OS for a 2000 Cavy Auto, 2.2L.

I'm failing emmisions because of a p1870 code. I need to get in a shut 'er down.

I have a 2000 Cavailier with a p1870 tranny code. I can't pass emmision in STL because of this code. It's an old car, and I'm not really intrested in repIacing tranny components nor do I have the time to get it looked at/fixed before the license laps. If I clear the code, they can tell that the test hasn't run yet. When it runs, of course it sets the code.

In looking at my tune, I don't know what to change. It needs to be able to run the test, but not fail... I didn't really see many options except for messing with the test conditions, table E0801. In table C0101:, p1860, p1870, p1887 are set to not reported, in C0102 you can only select 1 or 2 trips. I doesn't seem that I can tell it to not report the error. Doesn't seem to make sense to me. Am I missing something?

Looks an awful lot like the P10 cals, wonder how much code these 4cyl's share with my I6... Lots of the tables look identical, just with the Cavalier's data.

Id try changing the MIL Enable/Disable P1870 to NO, thats about all Ive got though.

wait4me
October 8th, 2008, 03:21 AM
Just set the test to not run. That is not an emmissions perameter, so it wont even show up on the tests... Im not sure why they would not let you pass with only one code showing...

Change those values in the E0801-e0804 and you can make it not throw any issues.

But i would be worried about that code as it is saying you have low line pressure and or clutches are slipping pretty bad.

Does anyone know or have tried using a Cavalier 2.2L tune & OS in a S10 in order to get fan control? I would think I would just have to copy over all of my tables & do a full flash. Am I thinking correctly or am I missing something that won't allow it to work?

I have an 03 Cavalier that I would like to start playing with, is there going to be support for it soon, or do I need that "other" tunning package
I have attached the file that I pulled from it. there was an option in the tune program for 02-05 4cyl, so I am just wondering if its in the works or not.

Give Jesse a few days, he can usually make the proper .cal or .calz for you. Then copy it into the proper calibrations folder and tune away.

I added support today for it.
That is an older operating system. The new one thru gm fixes alot of bugs. So you might want to get that one at some point or another.

Im working on a request system that i can send out new bins of ANY car via email. Just havent fully implemented it. A customer would just type in a vin number, and it would pop out a fresh file for them with all the latest updates in efi format.

HMM that structure is totally different and will take me 2 days to go thru it by hand.. I will try to do it asap. As for the dtcs, that section is a mess also on that 97 file.. there is a dealer update for your file also, but i dont have that one supported yet either. But it does relax the dtcs a bit from setting specific codes. Not sure what one you are throwing, but it might fix that.

It's the convertor code p1470, I think. I'm at work, and will check for sure tonight. I could try to get the pcm updated at the dealer if it makes it easier on you.

The car wont pass emissions test (just a systems and fault code test, not a sniffer), and I dont want to replace the cat on a $700 car. I have extra licenses to burn.

Do I need a .calz file?

Yes, the .cal/.calz files contain the proper address/structure of the *.tun code so you can modify and flash it.

Jesse, sounds like a great system! Cant wait to try it out.

Any update, had an issue, and now I need to get it inspected now. Its still a p0420 cat convertor code. I need to adjust some stuff. If I just clear the codes, they wont pass it until its run this test.

Andrew, I get an Alternate OS shown when I open that calibration. Does that mean it can be edited and reflashed properly, I ask because there are a few oddities such as the low spark pe table (B0610) going from 34.8* and 27.1* to -14.4*. Doesnt seem correct to me, but I dont have much experience with the 4cyl PCMs.

Not really, Jesse is his own entity. But the 4 Cyl calibrations are created by him and provided to EFILive.

That latest file (from the other thread; OS # 09392795) should be included in the latest release. Well, actually it could be in a release not yet made public. If anyone wants it email me t support@efilive.com and I can provide it directly.

No kidding, plus check out the spark tables!!! They go negative for no reason!

wait4me
April 21st, 2011, 10:46 PM
Ill start getting into building them this week, The old old ones are a pain in the butt as the processor code/layout is all wacked out on them making it alot harder for me to determine what tables are what. The function / table pointers are easy to see, but following what they are doing and how/why is another thing... from 2001 up the code is really clean...

Been really busy with other things the past year, I need to start getting back to adding tables. I am almost done with a major update for ll8, P12 controllers, Then i will add 2 bin files for this controller type that are missing.

ScarabEpic22
April 22nd, 2011, 05:34 AM
WHAT?!!! P10 UPDATES?!! Are you trying to make my last 2 years in one post Jesse, cauz its working! Paul and Ross have been holding out on me...haha!

If we have COT disable and a Load % vs TPS% table...anything else is just icing on the cake, are there anymore VVT tables?

Also Jesse, not sure if you've seen my older posts about a certain 2002 P10 OS 12587430, but the Engine->Limiters->Parameters {B1123}, {B1124}, and {B1125} do not fuction correctly. When altered they force the PCM into the 4WD shift pattern, it limits WOT to 4000rpms and shifts around 30mph. Had me chasing my tail for ~2 hours when I figured it out!

I have verified that it works correctly on these P10 OS:
02: 12575262
03: 12588012, 12588012
04: 12597031, 12584594

Incorrect on:
02: 12587430 (verified on 3 separate trucks)

Dont know if the mapping is slightly off or if that OS doesnt use those tables, they dont seem to really do much anyway from my experience (but I could be wrong, I either leave them alone on that 02 OS or max them out on everything else).

(Doubt you'd need anyone else to test the updates, but Id be happy to test them on my personal 02 I6 OS 12575262, and friends 04 OS 12597031 and friends 02 OS 12587430 [problem child lol])

I'm really surprised that with the price of gas more people aren't interested in Sport Compact performance.
My brother in law has the Pontiac G5 GT with the 2.4L and a GT28 turbo, Holy Crap that car is fast.
He is faster than most of the other turbo cars out there,Cobalt SS,Neon SRT4,Mitsu EVO,Subaru WRX

ScarabEpic22

I wish the P10 wasnt such a weird setup (like the 4cyl PCMs), hybrid SD/alpha-n fueling. GM themselves made a twin turbo I6 using slightly lower compression pistons, oil squirters (03-09 engines already have them), and putting a drop kit and rims on it. Made 400hp/tq, things a BEAST! Wish I could get 15min with that truck, man oh man.

2.4L I4, what PCM/ECM is that? E37? Doesnt surprise me that its faster than a Cobalt SS (s/c, the t/c ones are fast) with an extra 0.4L displacement.

He has a complete kit from Garrett (since been discontinued:bad:)
GMPP intake with 80mm throttle body, GMPP H-beam rods, GMPP billet crank,
JE Pistons, CNC Head with O-ring head gasket, Performance clutch.
(I called him just to make sure)

He has more money into it than he paid for it, BUT he's made most of
it back at street races. NOBODY sees it coming.

That is an only OS for that VIN. The later OS # (latest = 12216571 and 12208767). Both of these are already support so please update to one of those supported operating systems. Jesse (who does these cals) is out of the country so this is going to be your quickest result. In fact it is questionable if we'd go back and add a cal for a OS that has been superseded for so long.

I have been a bit out of touch with this (and similar) threads. What are the odds that I can TUNE my '04 Ion 2.2 now with the latest version? Or would I have to mail in the file manually and download a "patch" to tune it? I will try to read it now. If I can read, save and see it, I should be able to tune it right? Don't want to waste the credit, but it's my daily driver and I would love to tune it for practice! :)
