getting a license for a 98 trans am?

I heard the 98's were free but do you still have to get a license ? Or will just plugging in allow to start tuning?

Connect your V2 or V1 and check to see if the stream has been activated. If so you're done, if not contact EFI_Live.

I plugged in to read the calibration and it worked fine. I just tried to load a tune in and it said i need a liscense. how do i make sure this is a 98 like the guy said it was?

Look at the Calibration screen.. (CTRL+F2)

I tried that in scan tool and tune tool and it did nothing. also while trying to load a tune, the connection keeps getting lost. what causes that as I have checked all conections?

When you read the controller what PCM type was selected? That will be the definitive answer ;)

Please also be aware that it is only 97/97 LS1 (Camaro and Corvette) that don't require a license. All other 97/98 vehicles (Vortec etc) will attract a license usage.

Who else can help me with this issue? I gave the car back to the guy with the car as I ran out of time to fool with it before Hurricane Gastav comes in . I will just need to have the activation code for next tuesday when I come home to get the car tuned.
