Do the base spark tables/maps have any effect on timing outside of ide conditions, can they effect your timing at part throttle or WOT?

Is this on an Auto or Manual?

My car is an auto, but asking just as a general question.

Refer to B5916 & B5917. Base is generally only used for idle conditions.

Depends whether your car is a manual or auto.
Holden Autos only go to the Base Spark table when TPS is below 1.19% and road speed of less than 6.4kph.
M6's drop onto B5932 at any speed below 410kph soon as TPS is below 1.19%
Then onto B5933 when in Park or neutral.

Typically, when I tune cars, I set the Base Spark reference in line with the Idle mode and Throttle Cracker settings.

Example:

Base Spark Closed Throttle B5916 - 1.19%
Base Spark Vehicle Speed B5917 - 255 MPH
(this puts you in the base map anytime you're under 1.19% throttle)

Max Speed for Idle B0107 - 4 MPH
Max Throttle for Idle B0108 - 1.19%
(set in line with B5916 & B4312)

Throttle Cracker Activate B4311 - 5 MPH
Throttle Cracker Deactivate B4312 - 4 MPH

This keeps timing simple (you know where to make changes if need be) and it keeps the active idle controls from interfering with the TC settings.

This is a post good info for anyone feeling their way.
For an ex-military simpleton like me I agree with it 100%.
