My efi live v2 wont read or scan a 98 fbody that im trying to tune but has no problem with a 01 vette that im tuning as well.

The fuse for aldl is good and tuner cats reads and writes to the car just fine. I did get it to read once after resarting the computer but it wont do it again.

Has any one exsperienced this is there a new up date and firm wear im missing or some thing any help would be great.

Yes, we have experienced this quite a few times

We have 2 V2's and 1 V1, and 2 laptops with EFI Live software.

We have had quite a few 98 LS cars that could not be read with either of our V2's, swapping in both laptops. But, the V1 has read every 98 we have had in the shop just fine.

Here is a link to a post i made a while back about the same issue

my V2 did not come with the `97-`98 stream license installed,
i don`t know if that would keep you from connecting to a `97-`98,
but it might be worth a look.

Yeah mine has the stream licences. Also i should mention i did just connect with efi live to a 97 corvette with out a problem and it has conected to a 98 f body before. The car does work fine with tuner cats and now recently connected with hptuners.

We have the complete LS1 stream, for 97-98 and 99+ unlocked, and they still will not connect to some 97-98 PCM's

Anyone having trouble connecting to a 97/98 controller (with FlashScan V2), please do this:

First make sure you are running the latest firmware in FlashScan. It should be V2.05.19 or later.

1. Power off FlashScan (to clear its internal trace buffers).
2. Turn vehicle's ignition to on but don't start the engine.
3. Connect FlashScan to the vehicle only (not to a laptop).

At this stage you should see "VPW 01" displayed in the lower right corner of FlashScan's screen.
If not, then press Ctrl+Cancel (While holding the Ctrl key down press and release the Cancel key). That will re-boot FlashSCan and cause it to attempt to re-link to the vehicle.

4. Please select the following options:
F2 Scan Tool -> F2 Diagnostics -> F2 Dispplay VIN/Info.

5. Regardless of whether you get an error or not, please now save the trace file:
Using the Cancel key navigate all the way back to the first menu again, then select the following options:
F2 Scan Tool -> F3 Options -> F1 Save Trace File

6. Disconnect FlashScan from the vehicle and connect it to your PC.
7. Using EFILive_Explorer, copy the trace file from FlashScan to your PC and email it to me at [email protected].

Include a link to this page so I can correlate the email.

Paul

Thanks Paul, we'll have to try that with the 98 Turbo car that we have in the shop before we do the pin swap. Most of the 97-98's we see get the labotomy.
