Couldn't find an introductions forum so hello. Looking to upgrade to EFI from a PPE sometime soon. Tired of getting 15 mpg when I know 20 is possible. Just kind-of waiting for a switchable V2. Chris

Welcome to the forum. Looks like you just need a little tune up to clean things up. What is a PPE btw? I've heard a lot of terms, but can't place that one.

PPE is a plug in tuner for the duramax. Kind of what i figured is a little fine tuning is needed.

Finally went ahead with this. Kind of wish there was a paper manual to get started reading on at work and a decal for the toolchest. Very intimidating to me at this point; guess I need to download the latest software first-or buy a laptop one.

JD,

Download latest software from the Downloads page at www.efilive.com (http://www.efilive.com) and then do this:

Start->All Programs->EFILive->V7.5->Tools->Check for Updates and lit it finish the update (to build 80).

The are pdf user manuals for the scantool and tunetool...

Also, there are tutorials further down on the Downloads page at www.efilive.com (http://www.efilive.com)

There's also this: forumdisplay.php?f=17 (http://forum.efilive.com/forumdisplay.php?f=17)

What vehicl/year/model do you have...?

Cheers
Joe

Also, what version of bootblock/firmware does your V2 have (go F4 and then go down the menu tree)...?

I haven't loaded it onto my computer yet. Didn't know if I could load the one disc to 2 computers.

You can load the software onto as many PC's/Laptops as you like.

What is the V8.1 update?V8 is the EFILive Explorer (EE)... this is the user interface for uploading black-box-log (BBL) files from V2 to your PC.

If you install V8, then you can run the EE to find out the bootblock/firmware versions of your V2.

First off, download the latest distro from the main website and install that. Once it is downloaded, right click the setup files (need to get V8.1 downloaded as well) and select "Run as Administrator". That should take care of it, and once it is installed go into C:\Program Files (x86) [only if 64 bit OS] \EFILive and right click the directory and select Properties. Go to the Security tab and setup yourself with full control over the entire directory. This way you wont have any problems with full flashing OSs or any other weird issues.

I had the same problem with the win32 error... But I was loading off of the cd so I just installed the software manually by viewing the files on the disc!

Get the latest ones off the main website, you're gonna need them as the disc files are guaranteed to be OLD.

I went through and upgraded the software that I got off the disc through the website... Would that have upgraded the software to current?

Possibly, open up the Tune Tool, click Help->About. Latest version is 7.5.5 build 88. Also if you have a FlashScan V2 you need to download the EFLive V8 software from the downloads page, latest version for it is 8.1.2 build 58. And then upgrade the firmware and maybe the bootblock if EFLive Scan and Tune prompts you to.
