Fast, IE and Firefox would be fast too if Java and Flash and blah, blah was stopped. I'll give it a go, but to be honest, IE7 does seem to run pretty nice for me. I've tried to like Firefox but I just find that at least once a day I come across a website that displays a bit goofy.
Mind you, I've just installed Chrome and you are right, it feels fast.

Cheers,
Ross

Yeah Java is about to fix that problem with new tool set (funny the new set is called "V8") , Google is going to try and unify content .
It is less memory intense than IE and FF .
A good little read about features : http://www.theinquirer.net/gb/inquirer/news/2008/09/02/google-chrome-first-impressions--revolutionary
They say IE8 is real bloated !

Enjoy
:)

I've been using Google Chrome since you posted this thread, not one crash, it's very fast (like the old Netscape browsers were), some nice new features. The Google takeover of the world is one step closer in my book, I'm sold.
I wonder if they will port it to AmigaOS 4?

Cheers,
Ross

I am very impressed with it as well .
Think they are on to something here .
AmigaOS 4 is a nice looking OS , never had a Commodore 64 , just TRS 80 to Win98 .

I'm just an old school C64 / Amiga guy that was forced to PC's kicking and screaming, I'll get over it one day.

I DL'ed it last night, and it's fast all right, lol... I can't run my page scroll on my laptop in it, it just shoots the page from the top to the bottom and back so fast I can't control it. The mouse property's don't seem to have any affect on it :(

Ahh, what about the one before the C64, The VIC 20! I had one of these, complete with tape drive, and, books full of Basic language programs to spend hours typing in just to make a square move around on the monochrome monitor!

Firefox with the "IE Tab" free ad in makes it work for all pages. Uses the iE rendering engine inline..

Will try chrome though myself :)

Problem with Chrome is that it's missing all the nice plugins that are available for FF, mainly stuff like NoScript or AdBlock ... as for speed, FF3.1 Alpha is out, it should include the new JS engine pretty soon now, which is supposed to blow Chrome out of the water ...

Well, I remember even typing in the Hex Dumps that would sometimes be printed in some magazines (I think ZZAP64 from memory), you would spend all day typing in hex numbers only to find you got ONE number wrong and the program would not run!, ah crap, 20 years on I'm still starring at hex numbers.
As for the Vic20, no, we spent up big time to get the extra 44K of RAM for our first computer!

It is missing some nice things for sure, print preview with rescale would be nice (IE7), but it is still Beta, it will get better.
I do like that it has spell check on everything you type.

Cheers,
Ross
