View Full Version : Calc PID Question... variance?

I was wondering, is there a way to create a calc'ed PID that would give me a variance of a given metric? Maybe variance is the wrong word... but here is what I want to do...

I would like to be able to monitor, the current range (min to max) of a real time logged metric. For example when I am monitoring MAP and RPM stability when idle timing tuning... it would be handy to be able to see that for a given commanded idle timing, my RPM swing is 20 degrees (which would be close to +/- 10rpm) Same thing for MAP. For a given command timing, my MAP at idle swings 3 Kpa, then when I increase or decrease the timing, my MAP becomes more stable because the swing or variance decreases? Does this make sense?

If anyone has any ideas on how to write this, that would be awesome.

Thanks.
