View Full Version : 06 Vette locked in 4th

I read the TCM and flashed a tune with a few changes (mostly shift time reductions) and now have a vette that stays in 4th gear in D and in S and will not respond to the paddle shift ( stays in 4th). I saw a post by Chuck COW in the Corvette forum addressing the same problem but not listing a resolution.

Anybody have a fix?

Have you tried using the stock file?

First thing that I tried was to return it to the original file. I need a stock file to verify it.

Does anyone have a stock 06 A6 vette file?

Did you only change settings in the trans, or did you change engine settings also?

Yes,
I made changes. The customer has a cam and headers installed.

No, it was in the torque control/parameters section, I put them back to stock and had no more problems with 4 gear lock/limp in that car.

Yeah....You gotta put that fist torque value back to stock....Everyone makes the mistake of maxxing it out....but...

Many guys have messed with my tunes and then get stuck in 4th...(that's how I know he he..:hihi:)...

They usually call me blaming my 08 software update....but I know what they did...:hihi:

I had this problem but it was due to my stupidity. I was flashing in a tune at a track day when I was called to race. I cancelled the flash 1/2 way through and then drove to the line. I did the most awsome burnout but when I went to launch I discovere dit was stuck in 4th. Took me a while to work it out:doh2:

Very brave.....cut flash hafl way through on a T43. My experience was that they run in 3rd when they are dead. Does 4th mean they are half dead? :)

Is this in the ECM (B0515 etc) or the TCM?

Is the trans in limp mode to stay in 4th?

Chees.

Ta Chuck.

So if my B0515/6/7 are all = No, and shifting from 1 thru 6 is AOK, we must be doing something right.

Cheers.

Nope....B2501 leave it alone. messing with it will lock you in 4th....

I get 3 or 4 calls a week on this one...:D

Ok thanks Chuck. Most appreciated. The T43 protecting the trans against intruders seeking quick ways to higher torque levels. :D

Wont waste any time with it then....was looking at whether it affected measured torque. So far logging shows 680NM short peak but maintaining an average just under 650NM. Just need to log spark against this now.

Cheers.
