View Full Version : Questions about swaping from 99 OS to custom 01 OS

Alright, I just got flashscan so bear with me.. lol

I"ve read the tutorials and searched.. etc.. but i've got a couple of questions.

To run the 01 OS in my car, first I do a full reflash to EFIlive OS 01250001.. then I reflash the calibrations for GM OS 12202088 correct?

So, now I should have a stock 01 OS for a LS1 T56 Firebird.

Here are a couple of questions:

How will the difference in fuel and timing affect my car? I noticed the Main VE in my 99 OS have larger values than the 01 OS, is this because they did away with the backup VE table? Should I copy and paste the values over from the main VE in the 99 OS to the 01 OS?

Same thing with timing.. I noticed my 99 OS has more timing as well (high octane table) should I just leave the 01 values the same until I start tuning or paste the other values over?

I"m sure there are more things that are different but I just noticed these at a glance.

Any feedback would be great.. I wanna switch this thing over so I can really start tuning on it.. starting with idle and autotune.

Thanks!

Chris

Hey this 87gmc from anythingcars.com

As far as a full reflash yes you would need to do a full reflash to of EFIlive OS 01250001 but I would recommend 01250003 file because of the ability to control afr at any rpm. Second there is no need of copying the VE table if your going to do a autotune.

The 99 timing values are higher I would think because of EGR and also I believe the Cam was a little bigger in 98-00 than the 01-02 so that might have something to do with along with emission

Also when converting to a newer os such as yourself make sure you copy all the things like injector lbs, and various tables. Do a comparsion of your stock 99 vs 01.

Oh yea and make sure you update the knock sensor tables in the 01 because if you dont they wont work.

I did the exact same update from 99-01 on my truck
