Hello,
I know this is more of a mechanical question then a tuning question, but maybe some can point me in the right direction. My 99 Z/28 with auto trans wont shift out of 1st gear unless you lift off the gas then reapply throttle, it seems to go through the other gears just fine on its own. I went under bi directional and the solonoids respond to the commands and shift to the correct gear as commanded. I did a long wholeshot and that is when it started acting up. The trans is stock and shifting is set to stock parameters . The car is supercharged w/ meth injection and the car only has 47k mi. and only 5k with the supercharger. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I have zero experience with auto transmissions.
Thank you,
Greg

Greg,
Do you get manual 1st when you move lever into 1...?
Do you get manual 2nd when you move the lever from 1 to 2...?

I get manual 1st but when shifter put in 2nd manually it won't shift, it stays in 1st until you let off the throttle then ease back into it

I have to think about it while I study my manual...
Could mean that the lo roller clutch is jamming.

In manual 1st, do you have engine braking...?

Yes I do have engine braking in manual 1st.
I'm leaning to the valve body might have something stuck in it. The fluid is almost new looking so I think something is cloged up somewhere in valve body.
Thank a million for the help. It gives me a good place to start as money is really tight right now and a new trans is not in the budget right now, eventually I will have to upgrade the trans to handle the engine and I would imagine the rear as well. I only 2:73 gears and need to upgade this as well.

Oh, check your fluid level.

the level was a tad low so I topped it off maybe 1/4 of a quart at most. I did that last week right after the problem started. I put in a new radiator and forgot to top off the trans fluid, that is why it was a tad low.

Put in an extra 1/2 quart on top of that.

BTW, I noticed you put in a new radiator. Did you flush the trans cooler? Sometimes those have debris in them from the factory.............

I never did figure it out, I completely flushed it, put in a new filter, checked the solonoids, and put new fluid in. It is now only going into first and slipping like crazy in the gears it is trying tob go into. I have found a local trans shop that think I can trust to do a good HP build for me, so as soon as I get the funds together I will go that route.
