I have a 1997 Z28 that has a swapped LS1 using a 1999 Fbody pcm/engine harness. I bought my friends EFILive Flashscan V2, but I'm a little confused about the VIN lock since my chassis is a 1997 (not covered). ? Is this even possible?

Any help would be appreciated.

Flashscan support is based on PCM/TCM from 98 onwards , it doesnt matter what vehicle it is in as long as the PCM/TCM came from a vehicle that is supported. You should be right with what you have, you can also upgrade to a later model PCM if you want to give you better tuning flexability in the future.

Correct. You can enter your correct VIN into the 1999 PCM, and it will say 1997 when in EFI Live. Very neat to have a "stock" 1997 LS1 Z28, huh! =)

Thanks guys. I was starting to think I purchased the software before knowing for sure if it would work.

OK, just so I'm perfectly clear, when I register the EFILive for the VIN registration license, I enter my 1997 chassis VIN number, not the 1999VIN associated with the PCM. Correct? I was concerned that if I tried to enter the 1997 Chassis VIN, it wouldn't allow it since it falls into a year that isn't covered with V2 Flashscan.

Stealth- Yes, very neat indeed. Not quite stock though..... :)

Mikey, when you go to flash your LS1 PCM for the first time, EFILive/FlashScan registers the PCM's serial number... not the VIN.
