I ordered the whole V2 flashscan to be able to scan and tune etc...

It is supposed to arrive tomorrow(thursday 2/4/09) but I wont be able to get around to touching my truck and playing around with everything until the earliest friday afternoon (3/4) or saturday (4/4).

What Im wondering is, is the setup process to be able to unlock my vin and such something that is immediate, or do I need to get everything setup before the weekend so I can use it this weekend?

The whole backround info is Im a college student so I am out of town all week, then run home on the weekends to get stuff done on the truck. I want to tune it this weekend to start it up but dont want to be dissapointed when I have to wait to unlock my vin or etc.

any help is appreciated. thanks.

It's instant.

Download software (or load from CD), plug in V2, tap in the registration details contained in the box - Bingo :cucumber:

I figured the loading and setup of the software is instant but I want to make sure it will recognize that I have an open license to tune my comp and allow me to use that license and get goin' quickly....

It comes with 2 unused licenses.

(one license will be consumed when flashing a particular PCM for the first time).

Be sure to order the Scan & Tune model of V2.

What vehicle/year/model do you have...?

Download and install the software from the www.efilive.com (http://www.efilive.com) downloads page.

Its a 2001 vette engine in a project truck.

I bought the scan and tune.

and I dl'd the software and played with it for about a month now.

I just want to make sure I can tune when Im ready and don't have to do through some kind of wait.

Reason I ask all this is a shop down the street from me has efilive, and they said I'd have to let them know when I wanted to do it in advance and they'd have to do all the license stuff.

Maybe that was because they'd have to buy the license and didn't have any free ones?

Im not sure, its just my luck to get all my stuff ready to go and have one small thing hold me up, lol. then I have to wait till the following week...:bad:

When the box arrives you can be connected and tuning in about 5 mins - you need nothing else (save for the PC and Car of course :angel_innocent:)

Jim

PS, yes the tuning shop would have to go and buy a license hence the requirement for a bit of notice

Don't mean to jack this thread. I too just purchased the V2 scan and tune. I was wondering if thier is a operators manual to go with the equipment.

Thanks

PDF only. If you download the software you'll find the PDF's in the Help menu section - insert lots and lots of paper in your printer first

Larry, welcome to the forum.

The scantool and tunetool both have pdf user manuals.

Also, see the tutorial section on the Downloads page at www.efilive.com (http://www.efilive.com)

Also, there's more to read here: forumdisplay.php?f=17 (http://forum.efilive.com/forumdisplay.php?f=17)

Oh no, don't do that, think of the trees :)
Reason it's PDF is you are usually on your computer when using EFILive right?
I don't recall the last time I purchased a PC product that even came with a full printed manual, you usually get a printed quick start guide and a full pdf manual.....like we have.

Cheers,
Ross
