View Full Version : TCC activation timing after going from SD to MAF

Hi all,
on the weekend I plugged in my MAF again (and reflashed with all the necessary changes) to see if the car would do better with the MAF in the cold Michigan weather.
With the SD tune the converter locked up in OD when the transmission temp. reached 68-70deg. F. . Now with the MAF plugged in, until 111degF nothing happened. I couldn't go to any higher temp because the trip was over.

Can anyone explain what happened? Did anyone experienced something similar?
Thanks
Alex

Alex,

Can you post your tune file and any logs files.

Thanks,
Joe

Here are the tune and a log from tonight which is probably not very useful.
I had to make an errand during lunch and it was locking up as normal but when I drove home tonight after work it wouldn't lock up when the trans temp was over 70F. I played around with several speeds and higher rpms and then all of a sudden it locked up after a while.
Then tonight I reflashed the same tune again, thought it had some boot error or something. This is where the log is from. With warm trans and engine, it wouldn't lock up at 40mph and higher in OD. After some accelerating and higher speed driving it suddenly dropped the rpms and locked up, weird.
Do you know all the criteria for lockup beside speed and temp (not even sure on this)? I had the impression that it might be time sensitive?
Thanks Alex

There are a number of reasons why the converter doesn't lock; Misfire detection, MAF and MAP settings are common.
For starters you should set D2801 to NO. Setting it to YES causes it to lock right at each shift. See if that helps.
Also, I'm not getting MPH readings from your scan.
Is it just me?

I couldn't resolve the tcc issue and was not getting the hoped for results with the MAF plugged in, so I went back to SD. Now the TCC locks up as usual and the throttle response is better than with MAF.

Your log file doesn't show enough info...

As Joe said, your log shows zero VSS.

I run COS5 with OLSD and am happy with it as far as throttle response and tuning (compared to COS5 CL/MAF and compared to 1221215/12202088 OL/SD/CL/MAF).

But in any mode I have run I have never seen TCC issues.
