Power enrichment?

Hi,
I have a 2002 6.0l with a magnacharger @ 9psi, 566" 224 duration @.050 and 110lsa cam. My tune is currenlty in OLSD using the 0411 pcm with a 1bar map sensor. This will be my first tune, I still have to do the auto ve process. I would appreciate it if someone can clarify this two questions.

1.) Should I use a 2 bar map sensor instead of using the 1 bar map sensor and PE for WOT fueling? If so what are the benefits of using a 2 bar map sensor setup vs. a 1bar and PE?

2.) Considering that I have the 1bar map setup. When in boost is the main VE table ignored or is it still somehow used to calulate the final AFR besides the PE values?

Yes to the 2 Bar MAP, run either COS3 or COS5 to support fueling while in boost. The only time I can ever recommend using a 1 Bar MAP with boost is if you dont have the option to run an OS that can properly fuel while in boost. LS1 PCMs have COSs and E38/67/37/39/78s have 3Bar VVE tables from GM. Weird PCMs like the P10, P08, P11, Vortec, etc that dont have a COS need to run a 1 Bar MAP and then control boost fuel via a piggyback controller. Or run a 2 BAR MAP and halve the table resolution.

The Boost VE table is only used while in boost. If you look at the Main VE table, the table ends at 105kPa I believe. The Boost VE table starts at 105kPa and goes to 255kPa. Make sure you copy the values of the 105kPa column in your Main VE to the 105kPa column in Boost VE.

So, buy 2 Bar MAP, load COS3/5 (read the COS tutorial included with V7.5, open V7.5 Scan or Tune, click Help->Tutorials->Custom OS Upgrade Tutorial), and start tuning the Main VE. Once you have that set, start with a really rich Boost VE and apply the BENs/Calc.VET tutorial to it.

1 Bar MAP sensors are used on NA (naturally aspirated) vehicles.

2 Bar MAP Sensors are used on forced induction vehicles(Turbo & Supercharged). They can measure up to 2x the atmospheric pressure(29.4psi), so that means it can measure up to 14.7psi boost (the atmosphere is 14.7psi + 14.7psi from the turbo/supercharger).

3 Bar MAP sensors can measure up to 44.1psi, which translates to 29.7psi boost from a Turbo/supercharger.

Get PE out of your head with Speed density. PE = Power Enrichment. With Speed density/COS you will use a second table -boost VE as mentioned above.
