Unlocking Issue

Wasn't sure where to post this feel free to move it to a more appropriate spot if needed.

I had a guy with a 04 LB7 that had a locked tune so I got him a used ECM and tuned it/got him squared away.

Now out of just pure curiosity I wanted to try to unlock it, so I got my bench flash rig all set up on my toolbox and let EFIlive run for 4-5 days(47,000 attempts) trying to unlock it. It seemed to find the Key but when it went to erase the ECM it errored ($0101). So I ran it again for a few days(52,000 attempts) and it got the same error. Then finally thought third time is the charm (only 3100 attempts) it still had the same error.

Am I doing something wrong or is it a lost cause?
