Towing tune
I have been working on a towing tune for my 2004 Escalade ESV. The Engine is currently stock 6.0L, electric fans 4L65E trans, LQ9 and the trans has vette servo and OD billet servo, HD Assembly band and new assembly set. Towing will be 24ft enclosed trailer with Corvette and extra set of tires. Total weight varies between 7500 and 7900 lbs. Major problem is the 3-4 up shift and down shift. After much reading and searching I have made the following changes. Tomorrow I plan to load and log going to pick up the trailer, returning, and short run with the loaded trailer. Before I uploaded I was wondering if anyone sees any immediate problems with the tune.
The trans kick downs and downshifts were basically copying Performance to normal and moving up two cells. Also 15% TM was removed.

Thanks for any advise.

Gordy, please post your tune file and a stock comparision tune.
For towing, I would:
- increase shift pressure;
- increase torque reduction;
- set shift times for 0.3-0.4s;
Make very sure that the fans turn on when the turn on temp is reached for any speed under 60 MPH.
Key an eye on TFT and ECT.
Generally, I would:
- leave all kickdowns at 100%;
Also, while towing, use manual 3rd unless cruising along flat and level (minimize the number of times it goes 3->4 and/or 4->3).

Sorry I didn't do it the first post, should have scrolled down further before I sent it. Attached are the original and the trans tune. HTH
-
The trans mods tun file looks good, altho 1->2 shift time looks strange...
I would make the 1->2 and 2->3 shift times something like 0.35 +/- 0.5 sec. flat across.
-
Thanks for the help, changes were made and later today I will load and test the changes.
-
Also, in the shift pressure tables, the flat zero pressure below 74 ftlb, I would just make a straight line sloping up starting from zero and blending into the upper portion (i.e. so pressure increases right from zero torque and continues up in a ~linear manner all the way to the current max where it flattens out).
Know what I mean...?

I made that change also, thanks again
