It was there so to overcome any drop in idle speed that activating the A/C compressor would have caused... I don't think you'll have any trouble with that.

From the descriptions it appears to be there to facilitate A/C clutch engagement. It was actually pulling 17-18 degress of timing(decreasing engine output) at highway speeds for 1-2 sec every time the A/C clutch engaged/disengaged. Idle was not a problem. Felt like you were driving with the brakes partially applied every few seconds. I did not notice this before I scaled my VE tables by 50%.
B4369 looks like it limits the spark retard(seems that it references engine vacuum), but I don't see any tables that determine the calculation of the exact amount of spark retard.
