Right now my bootblock upgrade is in about its 20th minute.
Normal?
No, but once the bootblock is flashed your V2 will be in dead-poll mode and have 2 LEDs flashing back and forth. Now you need to program the firmware in.
Thanks, Erik.
Apparently that is where I am as I have the 2 flashing lites but in greyed out text it says do not interrupt so I was afraid to.
However I will pull the plug and upgrade FW to 2.5.14 which I downloaded from this thread.
Or should I go as you suggest to a 2.6.0x version?
While I am at it. I have 7.5.4 and suppose I need to uninstall.....I assume using remove programs in Control Panel after appropriate savings.
Should I go straight to 8.1 or progress through 7.5.5 and get to 8.1 in increments?
Thanks for your help.

Dont unplug the USB cable, just open up EFILive Explorer (or EFI HAPI) and flash the firmware in. Use 2.06.15 (or.16).
Right now you need both v7.5.6 and V8.1 to scan and tune (V7.5) and black box log/read (8.1).
Install the latest V7.5 and V8 from here: showthread.php?t=12014
And then please read attached.
Thanks, I went there and all worked.
