This is the one you need.

They are available under the Connectors & Terminals section at http://www.eficonnection.com
These connectors are perfect!!! Just used them the other day to wire up the fuel pressure sender and valet switch for the custom OS.
Gary... Did you ever get this working and/or find out the voltage/current draw possible. After my new found enthusiasm for messing with PCM wiring I'm VERY keen to do this also :)
No, a friend came up with some similar connectors that might fit in the plug, but with the car being prepared for winter (which hasn't showed up yet), w/o battery and everything, I didn't get to doing anything yet ... guess I'll have a look at it again in spring ...
Doh! The connectors from eficonnection are the proper ones and they are only like US$0.50 each so it didn't kill me to use the "right stuff".
Well I'll try and find out more cause I'm motivated now... Might be able to give you a hand :)
Yeah, doesn't hurt to use the right stuff - unless you are about 8000 mi away from where you can actually get ahold of it ... :( Might get one guy who just PCSed back to the States to pick up a couple though ... another might be on leave in the States before Spring, so that's another option ...
I'm in New Zealand, so a reasonable distance for the connectors to come also ;)
Yeah ... but I haven't seen a german car yet that uses LSx engines ... in contrast to Holden ... I wonder why that is ... LS1/2 would actually be a cheap way for Opel to build some high end limousine/sports coupe to compete with BMW/Mercedes ... but then, they're happy if they find buyers for their 4bangers ... oh well ... :)
Did you try using a sealer to help hold the pin in place? Like silicone RTV or something.Quote:

For the price of these things it's not worth messing around IMO. I ordered a few and had them sent all the way down here (New Zealand) :)
The ones I had just were no good ... got a friend on leave in the US in February, hoping to get some through that ... ;)Quote:

Nice try, close, but no cigar ... got quite a few folks in the military that would probably help to get them, though ...
I'll be trying this shift light stuff out in the next week or so. I have 2 AutoMeter warning lights (one large and 1 small) coming from SummitRacing :). Getting big and small cause I'm not sure which will be best and it makes it worth shipping all the way out there!
I'll let you know how it goes
Stuff has arrived now :) Going to use the small one - the large is just a bit rice!!
Now I just need to get some extra wire to reach the PCM and decide where it needs to go...
Were you already able to check what kind of signal you get when the shift-rpm is reached? When I originally tried, I couldn't see any 12V or whatever voltage come up for the desired shift RPM ... could have been caused by the sh@tty make-shift contact I used ...
I'll find out this weekend hopefully. I've seen a couple of other Holden guys do this recently and it seemed to work. The HSV GTS uses this method for it's light.
If it doesn't work I can sell the lights for a profit out here anyway :)
Well.... Finally completed the install after getting some spade connectors. After connecting the spade connector I found that the relay slot I intended to use wasn't actually wired in in my car :bawl:.
Ended up tapping it into the same circuit as the radar detector which has a fuse as well (just for you joecar :D).
Enabled the Shiftlight Control and Enable parameter (other tables I'd already populated) and did a quick test. Basically to test I just set B5801 to 1200 RPM so I didn't have to give it the full noise in the garage :)
Pretty damn pleased with this actually!!! Will be interesting to see how bright it is during the day.
maybe the two threads here and GenIII section could be merged?
Hey... a fuse is a safety device and a diagnostic/troubleshooting tool... ;)
Yeah. The install method worked out real nice and tidy (as I always try and do) :D
Pics!
nice now we need a tutotial on it hehe.
A tutorial would be great, this is the coolest thing since sliced bread.
OK now this is COOL!!! I JUST finished swapping my 98 Computer to 99+ and believe it or not....the car started! I have a check engine light and my SKIP SHIFT light was on....I went into EFI Live under shift light and set it from 0 to 2000 RPM's to test and voila..... My skip shift light is now just a shift shift light. Isn't it ironic? Don't you think?
would this work on my 02 :nixweiss:Quote:

i was wanting to know if i could enable the skip shift light and use it as a shift light without acually activating the skip shift silenoid it is my understanding that one way of hooking up a shift light is to tap into the skip shift wire and hook it up to a shift light and the skip shift parameters would control it if this is the case should i not be able to just use the current skip shift light as a shift light
I am not sure, but is easy to test. I think it will only work on an M6?Quote:

Under Transmission calibration there is folder for CARS/CAGS Disable CARS. No more skip shift and the light will come on at any RPM. Let me know if it works.
well that didnt work out looks like ill have go buy one and wire it ot the pcm
Skip Shift and the Shift Light output don't have anything to do with each other AFAIK ... Skip Shift only activates under very certain situations (low speed, low load) ... and yes, the shift light pin is only free to use on M6, as it is used for a 2-3 shift IIRC on the A4 ...
What do you mean what didn't work out?
^this didnt work out^ it appears, at least to me, he wired nothing and still has a shift light that was at one time the skip shift lightQuote:

Sorry I had not followed this post!! I was reading through the beggining of this post before I did the PCM swap and was planning on doing the Shift light. Coincidently when I did the swap I noticed that the PIN on the PCM that was mentioned in this post was where my skip shift light was plugged into(RED #47). When I started the car the light was on, I just changed the settings in the tune, my dash is different, but I don't understand why this would not work on a 99+ M6 car? What does that PIN do? What turns on the skip shift light in a 99?
I looked up the diagram, it seems my skip shift light is lit up Via a wire (white from RED 41 which simply plugs into the 99+ RED 47) For the 99+ the light is controled by serial data, so there is no one wire to light it. So ya....I just lucked out :) Sorry if it sent you in the wrong direction.
sorry to drag up an old thread but i'm looking at doing this mod to my 04. A few minor questions i have though, is the pin out put on the pcm an earthing pin? How much current can it safely handle?
