torque managment

Hello can someone point me in the right direction for torque management cm2350 ? working with file DO90008.08. The truck runs better with some adjustments but still cant even spin the tires. I'm not looking to brake the truck in half but a little giddy up below 1600rpm would be nice. I tried disabling limiters in D2019 and then I tried increasing rpm in all tables in rpm limiter torque adjust. Im not able to log data with efi so on my scanner when I try a boosted launch it will command around 350lb tq and mode switches to other and it flattens out. Can someone lend me a hand? regards 26sutphen....

Have you modified the Trans parameters to remove torque management?

I have not, I looked through the parameters but didn't see anything for torque management.

There are some in there, and are you turning off your traction control on the dash?

can you point me to the limiters for the trans? and I haven't disabled the traction control. Duh on my part. but the tires don't even slip and activate it. Also when driving and doing a roll on its just real soft down low.

You need to actually add power down low along with raising limiters and traction control deactivation. Pedal table, torque to fuel tables, pulse table etc

Just turning or raising torque values without adding power won't spin the tires.

You do need to be careful with how much torque you add...the emissions system will begin to get irritated and will give you issues if you push too hard down low.

Do you have a way to monitor dpf pressure delta and if it's regenerating or not?

Ok, Kinda what I did. On the pedal map I requested more torque. Then I went to torque limiters and made sure what I requested was was that or greater. Then I looked at the torque to fuel and made sure at a given torque the fuel was atleast that or more in the main limiters. it seems to have woken the truck up but still nothing down low...I know im missing something that's why im asking for some help. and thank you for the replies

Yes, either my snap on scanner or oem software hooked to the backbone.

You can adjust the MAF tables to get it to fuel harder down low but as Les said you're emissions systems are not going to be very happy.

Your talking adjusting the AFR table and not the actual MAF frequency table, right?

Are either of you guys willing to share a tow tune so I can see where I may be going wrong? I still haven't found the trans limiters. I see full throttle torque target . not sure if that interpolates back to 0% . I did adjust it and it didn't seem to make a difference. traction control off and it goes to 2000 rpm and levels out. thank you for the replies...

None of my tunes will be helpful, I don't tune for burnouts...just clean, linear power.

Thank you for your help , This is actually what im after. Thats why the burner is still on the truck. The burnout reference was to show that im missing something on the low end limiters. Ill keep trying or maybe someone else will jump in and lend a hand... Thanks again

Have you started to add power? Added pulse, timing, pressure?

That is my next step, I was doing one change at a time earlier to see if I could make a difference and it didn't work. i can add fuel and timing, the timing i could go easy with but with adding fuel and having the burner in place i cant tune out the smoke. Is there a rule of thumb for fuel on the emissions compliant truck? I heard you loud and clear when you said they don't like high torque down low with the burner in place. I have zachs book but all the limiters are labeled different from previous years. I was thinking if i wanted a given torque at a certain rpm i could just command it there, and if there wasn't any fuel limiters in place i would get it. Guess its not as simple as i thought. What you're asking for in the tables is a maximum, not a absolute.

Also take note that the base table plus altitude 1-3 are for "normal" operation, if the truck is cold, or in another EOM than base 1-3, it'll throw your perceived torque request off.

Scanner that shows what EOM you are running in will help.

One good giveaway that your irritating the emissions system is the throttle valve position. If it's anything less than 80% open when in spool up, off idle or moderate acceleration, then it's telling you the system isint happy.

With the scr system still in use, the ecm will gladly plug the dpf up before it allows higher than designed NOx.

So you'll see the egr stay open, the throttle valve close or go less than 80%, to keep the torque and NOx down.

I will monitor those while im driving. Dom sent me a base file to try. I don't think i would have gotten it anytime soon. There was quite a few changes made to the file. I was trying one at a time. Hope i can learn from here, Now that i have something to compare a base file to. Thank you both for your help.

I would certainly take as much advice from Les as you can. He's been a huge help to me and many others of this forum. I've never found anything he's said to be anything but 100%. There is a wealth of info on here, but it's mostly 5.9 stuff due to everyone just wanting to delete their 6.7s. I would love to see more informative threads on emissions intact tuning. Making power is easy, making smoke free power is easy, but doing that and keeping the emissions systems happy is not.

I will definitely take his advice. I also think hes from the left coast..... tuning with no smoke and the emissions in place is probably a necessity over there. Thanks again for the help......
