cranks won't started

Problem with 04 Silverado lly,35000 mi. 6 speed stick,stock. Started problem 2 wk's ago when it cranked few seconds before starting and each day a little longer for a few days but seemed to run ok.Then it quit starting except a puff of start fluid was used then the the rpm's would max at 2000.Was 150 miles from home. Pumped water and sediment from filter and got home at 2 am. Put in new wix fuel filter and filled with fuel and bled.Still no start without puff of start fluid but runs very well.Engine lite on.code 1093 was shown but cleared. Have appoint. in one wk. at possible rob shop.Help much appreciated.
