Change VIN to older Dodge or non Dodge?

I was wondering can I change the VIN to a 2003 Dodge Cummins VIN or a Ford VIN (preferred) without turning the ECM into a brick? I'm using this in a Fummins swap so I don't have all the Dodge computers that would cause problems.

Yeah that should be fine, just use the V7 Scantool to do it.
