E38 Custom OS install with 6L80E

Let's try this again (it doesn't seem as if my first thread posted....)

It seems that I need to install a custom OS from EFI live in order to bypass the VATS and a few other sensors and controls that I do not need for retrofitting my L9H into my classic car. However, while following the tutorial http://download.efilive.com/Tutorial...20Tutorial.pdf I am not able to read the tune from the ECM with my EFI Live tune tool (v7.5.20). It sounds like I need to be able to save the base tune file, flash the Custome OS on the ECM, then put the base tune back into the Custom OS. The tutorial shows the user (me) being able to click that green icon in order to read the ECM, but that icon is gray and un-clickable on my screen. No I am not in demo mode, and yes everything is connected correctly because I'm able to read the ECM with the Scan Tool program (the ECM's OS is 12630501-AA) and the Version 8 software is also able to communicate with my ECM/TCM.

Let me know what your thoughts are in a simplistic way, if possible; also, if you for see any problems that I will most likely encounter, please give me a heads up :)
