Question on Full Flashing T87

I was able to locate a stock T87 file that matches the OS of the empty T87 that my friend has. He purchased this because he did not want to tune the factory 2016 t87 incase he had a converter issue and wanted an unflashed tcm in truck should it go back to dealer. With that being said the tcm he purchased is empty but has correct OS. I have full flashed several before of my own but other than updating his VIN it should be straight forward or is there any particular steps I need to take given his tcm is empty? Is there a way the tcm needs to be licensed since it has no VIN number in it now?

I always flash new ones with SPS before any using any tuning software.
