n2brk,
Was your issue on an LB7 or a newer truck? Per my previous comment, make sure your Base Torque tables didn't switch to N-m units while the 'values' stayed in ft-lbs. I had this happen...
LBZ Reg for LB7
mm3/s mA
0 1550
1000 1500
2000 1460
3000 1415
4000 1395
5000 1380
6000 1366
7000 1354
I know this is old, but make sure the "Base Torque" tables in the DSP tunes stayed in Ft*lbs and did not switch to Nm. I ran into the exact same thing with an LLY DSP5 tune and when I mapped it to...
Sorry Gigabrock, just saw your post further up. Oct. 27th or Nov. 3rd (both Saturdays) are currently open. We will play it by ear. My phone number is on my facebook page 'McGiffen Performance'. ...
FERM,
I am little lost on your method of determining that the injector latency for your bigger injectors was 100 usec over stock (ie. they take 100 usec longer to begin injecting fuel than stock)...
FERM,
Yep, injector latency is what I was referring to with the delay with larger injectors, also called injector energizing time. I am familiar with the phenomena but not familiar with how to...
Mind you the 'adjustments' I refer to above are changes made to my 125HP single tune and not to a stock calibration. I also learned from the Bosch guy that bigger sticks also open slower especially...
Small world. Yeah, EFI Live has a steep learning curve. I have been using it for 3 years and still learn new things every day. If you are free during a weekend later in October or November you...
LB72004,
I see that you posted this spreadsheet back in February and then had a discussion on another thread with another tuner in August regarding these 3 tables, TBIQ, Base Torque, and TLIQ in...
On the Duramax engine, especially after the initial break in, you are correct the lash tends to open up. This is because the valvetrain (cam, rollers, rockers) wears more than the valves (heads and...
Well, I spent yesterday evening on a Dmax water pump job so didn't have time to look into this. You did help to answer one of my questions. I too have modified the Base Torque table in the past and...
Did your EGTs go up? I guess it is possible that something got messed up during your lash adjustment and that you are now hanging the exhaust valves slightly open on 1 or more cylinders all of the...
Jason,
I know I am resurrecting an old thread, but just wondering if any more progress has been made on this or not.
I haven't gotten my head around this yet, hope to look at it in more detail...
Brock,
I am also originally from Vincennes but live in Columbus, IN now and work for Cummins. Anyhow, I do Duramax tuning and mechanic work on the side. Hit me up if you want me to help you with...
I think EFI's DSP documentation says something about converting all units to imperial, so I must have done that when I converted my LB7 tune to DSP5 but must have skipped that step when I did this...
Killerbee,
How have you gotten around this for your DSP5 tuning then?
I found the units issue at the point where I had given up and was going to start modifying the base torque and TLIQ...
I figured out the issue, so hopefully this will help others in the future. I won't go through the long list of things that I tried, but I found the root cause to be the fact that when I had...
I just started working on DSP5 tuning on an 05 LLY and have the exact same problem. As others have said, the tables that control fueling and defueling are the same between all of the tunes at low...
On my 2003 LB7 in the stock truck with a built Allison, I haven't found the DSP5 Staging to be useful. I get that it is supposed to allow the truck to hit a certain boost then references the fuel...
Well, thanks for the info IdahoRob. It is always nice when the big guy helps out the little guy like myself. This new update required me to completely uninstall my old EFI Live software so it could...
Bump.
Was hoping to get a reply from EFI Live by the end of the day as I wanted to get this latest tune loaded tonight. I guess my first question is will I be able to partial and full flash from V7...
Well, I broke down and loaded the new update from EFI's website last night and sure enough it opened up a can of worms for new problems for me. Up til now, I have used the V7 Tune and V7 Scan Tools...
A truck that I had previously tuned had the ECM replaced by the dealer and now I cannot tune it without a new license. Do I need to charge him for a new license or is there a way to transfer the old...
Just FYI, turns out my problem was that I had inadvertantly lowered the pulsewidth of the pilot injection table. Therefore, I was subsequently retarding the timing at idle, causing an increasing in...
