Sorry to hear that Chkmeout08. When the fires were at their worst the weather was awful, it was 46°C (115°F) with very strong winds. Combined with the drought we have had it was always going to be bad. I heard on the news I think they said the fires were spreading at a rate of nearly a mile a minute!
Just as I was typing this we had the "Elvis" air crane fly over - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/S-64_Skycrane , wow!! I guess it is off to dump more water on the fires.
Unfortunately the death toll is still climbing.
