Default V1 Commercial to V2 Commercial Upgrade

Why is it so expensive? I want to upgrade my V1 to the V2 stuff and wow $600 shipped is alot of money right now. I paid $649 for my V1 software exactly 1 year ago and having to shell out another $600 is pretty hard right now. Are there going to be any type of deals or specials for anyone who wants to upgrade to the v2 stuff?
    Thanks
PS I love efilive, I cant stand using HP tuners.

    Hi ls698ta,

    What vehicle/year/model do you have...?

Depending on your v/y/m, your V1 may be all you need.

V2 supports later vehicles (CAN bus) and has an LCD/keypad (which you can't really watch/press too closely/easily while you drive).

Both V1 and V2 support BBL and DVT (V1's BBL is much more integrated at the moment).

V1 is very compact (which I like).

V2 (and the new vehicle calibration definitions) involved a major R&D effort by Paul and Ross.

The software is free (download from downloads page at www.efilive.com )... you're paying for the hardware and it's development effort.

You should have only paid $549 for the V1 12 months ago.
The upgrade from V1 to V2 is another $549.

You keep your V1 after upgrading, the only limitation is that PCM licenses cannot be purchased for the V1 once you have upgraded to V2. However, the vehicles that you have already tuned on the V1 can continue to be tuned using the V1. You can even copy the used licenses from your V1 to your V2 and use either V1 or V2 to tune those already licensed vehicles.

Also, you can choose to move all unused licenses from V1 to V2 or leave them on the V1 for use later.

    Regards
    Paul

If you don't need/want to keep your V1, then another option is instead of upgrading for $549, sell your V1 and then purchase V2 outright. You'd need to sell it for $250 or more to make it worthwhile doing that.

I paid $650 plus shipping for my V1 from MPH motorsports feb of last year. Well See I have 6 licenses on the v1 but I want to upgrade to V2 so I can use it on other vehicles that are not supported with V1. If I could get the V2 upgrade for 549 shipped then that would be nice

Check with some of the resellers in the US. Shipping domestically, inside the US is far cheaper than shipping internationally from EFILive (in New Zealand).

Some resellers may also have specials or discounts, but that is up the the individual reseller.

You can get at least $400 for your V1 with one license used,
    and buy a V2 with an LC1 for $900

when you up grade from v1 to v2, do you need v1's cable to work with the new v2 or do you get an entirely new cable and everything is seperate or how does that work?

    Hi Jon,

You get to keep your V1 interface (as non-upgradable spare) and you get a new V2 interface (new hardware/cables).
