"Usually" being the key word, we had a car here that would cut out randomly, new PCM fixed it. (LS1)
Have had mid 90's PCM's give the same problems as described above on a couple of cars (VR/S v6's and v8's), had one that made the car feel like it had a nasty vacuum leak but would accelerate and cruise without fault.
Dave.
I have a friend who works at a company who repairs ECM's, he said to me he has never seen a faulty LS1 PCM that failed on it's own accord, seen plenty that have been damaged by human intervention
The LS1 PCM has pretty heavy duty parts in it and they are constructed very well. The tin box Delco PCM's like the VR's weren't the best.
Now, the worst of the worst are Mitsubishi ECM's from the 90's, the exploding capacitor is the best.
Cheers,
Ross

Well, in this case... There is one.
I only drove it a couple hundred miles today, and the problem is gone.
For good, I hope. The replacement computer seems to have done the
trick. I worked at a dealership or two and also have not seen a box
go bad, which is why I was reluctant to replace it.

That doesn't happen, surely!
I must admit, the first LS1 PCM I removed the flash chip off, copped an absolute hammering from my soldering iron, especially when I soldered it back on the wrong way round (twice ). I even conected the power up and tried to flash it! I thought it was a gonner for sure, but, I soldered it back the right way and it worked fine! Another day, when I was playing around, I had the PCM out of its holder resting on the guard, I started the car, then realised it had fallen onto the extractors (for 5 - 10 minutes). It was EXTREEMLY hot, but kept on kicking! It is still being used in my car today without fail (Tried another PCM last night which made no difference to my stumbling problem).
Dave.
If you have replaced your ECM and send documentation to EFILive to show it has been replaced we can replace the VIN license. Please send a scanned copy of the dealer's invoice showing the PCM was replaced to paul@efilive.com.

Dave,
sorry it didn't work for you.
I drove over 1000 miles yesterday and have had no more problems!
Except the codes for the abs, something about the left front wheel sensor
I do think this will be my last Chevy though...
Since getting it two years ago, I have put over $10,000 into it.
My 2004 Ford ran over 400,000 trouble free miles!
