According to the supported vehicles list, the 05 G6 isnt supported (not even sure there was an 05 G6, IIRC 06 was year 1) and the 05 Malibus arent supported either. For 06 its an E67 ECM, 07-09 E38 ECM.

Alex, it can be made to work. My E40 bench harness does the P05 (your V6 PCM), the P11 (4cyl), P12 (IL4,5,6), LLY, E22 Northstar.

I think you will find the problem is the E40 harness does not have a VPW bus pin, the P05 PCM you have is VPW, you will need to add that in to the harness on Pin 15 of the Blue connector and then to Pin 2 of the OBD-II connector.

    Cheers,
    Ross

thanks for that info, i'll check it out. my current E40 harness works for the P11, P12, LLY, 04 P05 (ex 04 GP) and the other P05b box (ex 05 GP). i made a different harness for the N* box which uses big pin 73 on black J2 connector and that one works. but i think i can make this work with the info you gave me, thank you very much.

i dunno, can't get this thing to flash. it communicates and reads the VIN, but it hangs up before flashing. it's probably some bullsh*t with the J2534 interface. i gotta get an MDI.

anyway, this is what i used:

    blue J1:
    1 CAN+
    2 CAN-
    15 and 16 serial
    19 IGN+
    20 BAT+

    black J2:
    73 GND

this works for the N* controller (it doesn't need the CAN pins). i'm going to call EASE tomorrow. not happy with them. 1st the SIEMENS, now this. btw, i thought the N* box has trans functions and is called a P07? not that it matters...

This brings back memories actually. I have a feeling you need to disconnect the CAN lines. The PCM must be flashed via the VPW bus on pin 15, but I think it responds to the VIN request on the CAN bus so TIS then tries to reflash it via CAN too.
I might be wrong, but I know I have since reflashed them no problem using TIS and a Mongoose cable, but there was something funny about it.

The N* box I've used my harness on has E22 on the sticker, I'm sure it's 'sort of' the same as the P07. I think the E22 is used on vehicles with the 5 speed Auto and the P07 is used on vehicles with the 4T60E.

    Cheers,
    Ross

thanks again for the info. it doesn't communicate at all minus the CAN pins, so they have to stay. EASE were of no help, going to call TIS tech support tomorrow...

That is the problem then, it needs to talk on the VPW bus to program it.
While it's hooked up, why don't you try getting EFILive to connect to it to confirm the VPW bus is working ok?
In the scantool, just choose the LS1 PCM as the selection.
