    Default dsp5 and boot blocks

I am trying to instal dsp5 on my LMM and I am having trouble updating my software and trying to figure out what boot block that I have. I have file FSProg_V2_4_72 under my program files but it wont run. Any advice is much appreciated.

    jrad, welcome to the forum...

To see which bootblock/firmware you have, you can goto the Firmware tab in EFILive Explorer, or on your V2 go down to the licensing details under the setup options, the bb/fw versions are displayed there.

    Do this:

    1. download/install V7.5.6.104 and V8.1.2.84 from here: showthread.php?t=12834

    2. read and understand the attached doc very carefully,

    3. if you understand the doc, then proceed to update your V2's bootblock/firmware.

I would start by downloading the two files from THIS link. While they are downloading, read the .pdf file below the download links for information on how to upgrade. Make sure you update your boot block first then flash the latest firmware. To do this once both updates have been installed, go into the start menu folder for EFILive\V8 and run EFILive Explorer. EFILive should pop up a dialog box in your taskbar by the clock and tell you that you need to update. Again, do the bootblock FIRST! Then your V2 will go into dead poll mode with 2 LEDs flashing, now flash the firmware in and wait for it to reboot. Should be good to flash your DSP5 in (make sure your V2 is plugged in before you open your DSP5 tune file and click the BIG RED arrow).

If your firmware is older than a few releases DSPx for LBZ/LMMs wont work as it hadnt been implemented yet.

    Edit:
Joe beat me again...plus make sure to read the doc he attached.

I think I downloaded the v8, and V7.5.6 before the boot blocl was downloaded or upgraded? As this is what my tuner told me to do. Should I uninstall the programs and start over?

OK so my flash scan device says boot block 2.04.10 when I click on options and look at license description, but when I connect it to my laptop and open EFI/Live firmware I get a screen that says the attached device has been upgraded to boot block 2.05.xx or greater and I need to use EFI-Live explorer which I cant seem to find on my computer, even after downloading the upgraded files.

When I try to open EFIlive explorer my computer says it cant communicate with my flash scan because it has a boot block less than 2.05.xx which makes no sense since the firmware says it is 2.05xx or greater.

Ok, go like this, from your Windows desktop:

    - open a Windows Explorer and goto this folder: C:\Program Files\EFILive\V7.5,
    - double click on this program: EFILive_Firmware.exe,
    - where it says Update FlashScan V2, select this file: FSProg_V2_4_72.ffw,
    - press the Program button, wait for it to finish.

After doing that, follow the doc I posted above... look at "A".
