Wow, Flashbacks with all this Memcal talk.
I love the way so many websites have copied all the data I put up on the original Memcals website I did - http://www.geocities.com/memcals/
2003, it does seem like a long time ago.
Cheers,
Ross

But remember GMECM was created from the DIY-EFI forum, now we are really going back!

You see what I mean about so many variations in the production code. In some cases things are in the same place, but not all ways. Complete working definitions for all these is a way off, but I can find the things I need to find.

Rev it up, Drop the clutch, See what happens?
That was one of the first things I found when I first became interested...I hang a shortcut off my desk top.
I like to bring back the restless years Ross you all ways take the bite.
That web is pretty cool, shame you don't have the time to update and maintain it Ross. Your a Legend anyway for leaving it there!

Lads, what I have been getting into of late has been pretty cool.
I have been looking at getting real-time tuning happening for the later 27C010 eprom (VS on) with a Moates Ostrich V1 and V2 emulator.
TunerCat and TunerPro have kindly added some cool updates to there software for me. Much to do with buffer size and definition recognition. I can now upload and download the larger 128k bin files to the Ostrich and construct definitions to suite the BCC's.
One thing that I quite have not worked out is the addressing. The Ostrich uses a 4M chip so the bin needs to be loaded at a off set with-in the emulator. I have been using a AM 29F040 as a test bench to see if I can find the right combination. Been trying to get one running using a AM 29F040 as a replacement. It has been indicated to me that it should work and I should load the bin at the back end of the AM29F040. That would be h60000 to h80000. I worked out how to go about it and I loaded the bin up to a chip but no worky, worky. Had a couple goes at it now and Hummmmmm. I'm not to sure.
I was going to find another gunnie pig and try loading the same bin in all 4 blocks just to see what the outcome would be. I also have a couple 27F010 chips heading this way just to get back to basics and have a harder look at it.
I really like the simple plug and play usb interface of the Ostrich, it's very user friendly compared to the NV-Ram interface connection. Com port nightmare if you ask me. Personally I think a W based editing software connected to a Ostrich is the way to go for these later models.
I see allot of people getting into these S/C VT, VX's these days and that's my personal target, but this just opens up all options for every one.
Cheers
Mick
PS: Hummm I'm so close I can feel it in my bones.....

hey Mick , I have a customer car here with a VT 3.8 supercharged, all tuned via the ostrich 2 emulator but the 29f040 chip burns OK with the BURN2 and reads back perfect BUT won't start the car and the fans come on. Did you ever work this out. I've done just as you did and tried the end of the chip and 4 stacked bins but no go.
Can you help ?
cheers,
Mike
"Just a tune > yeah right !!!! "
Check the pin out, the address lines may not match with a 27C010
