    Default V2 Upgrade

    I am curious in what I would recieve with a V2 upgrade. Would there be new cables, software,upgrades?

    I am worried about the computer I am using now to upgrade and losing info I have have done so far. So my question is ....if I get a V2 upgrade can I install it on another laptop and use the V2 cables with it and still use my original computer with the original V1 as a back up. It is always a concern to upgrade when you are JUST getting used to the old way.

    The only reason for the upgrade for me is to do newer model years.

    Thanks gang

    Robbie,

    You mean this upgrade: Upgrade From V1 to V2

    You get FlashScan V2 and all the cables.

    You then copy your used licenses from V1 to V2 (which does not use up any of the new licenses on V2... with EFILive, each license is paid for once only).

    You can still use V1 as before... (but you will not be able too upgrade it again... i.e. only one V2 upgrade allowed per V1)...

    You can use V2 and V1 on the same PC or different PC's or any PC's (e.g. at your friend's house)...
    you can run the software on as many PC's or laptops as you want...
    EFILive software is not PC locked and V2/V1 are not PC locked.

    Software updates are regularly posted on the downloads page at www.efilive.com

    You will have to run the latest software (which really hasn't changed that much)... are you running V7.5...?

    V2 BBL is different (but better)... you will see BBF sometime.

    Check that your vehicles are listed in the supported vehicles list.

    Thank You Joe.

    When you transfer the licences to the V2 can you pick and choose which ones get transfered or does it automatically dump all of them?

    When copying licenses, it lets you choose as follows:
    - move all the free licenses only;
    - copy all the used license only;
    - both of the above;

    Partial copies are not supported.

    IIRC you can leave as many unused licenses as you already have on your V1 while upgrading, but once you use though you cannot add more to the cable AND those free licenses are not transferred to your V2?? I cant remember because I moved the 1 unused license and copied the used one to my V2, but I thought you could choose to leave free licenses on the V1. I might be wrong here as Ive only upgraded once and never plan to again.

    Hmmm... I don't remember anymore since it's a one time deal...

    This is what I did back when: I got a spare PCM, flashed it with my V1, then copied the 2 used licenses to my V2 (so my V2 now had the 2 original free licenses plus the 2 used licenses from my V1)...
    i.e.
    my V1 had 4 licenses (2 used, 2 free);
    my V2 came with 2 licenses (0 used, 2 free );
    I copied the 2 used licenses from V1 to V2,
    my V2 now had 4 licenses (2 used, 2 free).

    I just opened up the V2 Upgrade window in Tune, and there are 2 check boxes. 1 for copying used licenses over and 1 for move unused licenses over, so you can leave unused ones on your V1 but just cannot add more once you upgrade it to a V2.
