Default Inst/Avg fuel economy gauge accuracy after tuning?

For those of you with the "driver information center" / trip computer feature that calculates instant/trip mileage....did that item become inaccurate after tuning?

I just did one round of VE tuning and added mild lean cruise (15.8 AFR max)...and quite frankly can't believe the mileage. Not even close to done yet with the tune.

So is this (likely) for real or does that gauge need recalibration (i.e., B3501, scaler for fuel economy output). It was never perfectly accurate, but has always been off by a specific percentage.
