Default Looking for some input on my observations..

So after having my car running very well since updating to '02 OS and performing a 'from scratch' tune, I made some small changes by adding a set of ported MAF ends and installing a FTRA setup. Now off the top I expect so see a lean swing with the additional flow of unrestricted air to the MAF, especially with the ported MAF ends which were alot larger than I had expected. I went ahead and installed them, fired up the laptop and did some preliminary logging while crusing and, as expected, I was seeing a +12-15% LTFT. I added a little to the VE map since the vast majority of the effects of change would be airflow across the MAF type, and added an additional 7-9% to the MAF scale accordigly.

What I found to be most interesting, it ended up taking an addition of about15% to the MAF to get my LTFT within reasonable -2% to -7% with room for tinkering. Now does this strike anybody esle as a little 'much' in terms of adjustment? I mean I know the differience from the factory MAF ends is rather large, but does it seem like a reasonable value based on previous experiences or might I be encountering some other problem? As always any input is greatly apprieciated.

You just added random amount to both VE and MAF?
If VE was good before you should only need to adjust the MAF.
Did you reset LTFTs after installing the MAF?
It's not uncommon to see LTFTs off after resetting them.

Nothing random, I drove it after the installation to see how much correction the PCM needed to hold stoich and I based the changes on that, and yes I reset the trims each time I logged and drove about 5-6 miles before I began logging. I did note the LTFT began to come down slightly settling close to 0 while leaning on the richer side, but I was just questioning the amount of change to the MAF and whether or not that was outside the range of expected.

What does WOT AFR look like?
If LTFTs and WOT/PE AFR are good what more could you ask for.

Very close but not perfect, averages about .1-.2 richer than commanded.
