    Default Autotap v3 ATUSB paperweight?

    hey everyone,

i bought this usb autotap jan 06, dragged it out and see that the cd it came with has efilive 7.2.2.

what is this cable capable of? scanning only? same as using the Autotap 3.1 software or is it better?

will the newest version of efilive work? 7.5x

i evenutally want to learn how to tune the E40 (my truck) and E38 (my car) PCM's is there a trade in program or should i just put it on the "BAY"

    -Carl

    p.s.

Looking at the supported vehicle/pcm list it looks as though the E40 & E38 are only supported with the V2 interface. I think the autotap is only good for scanning. Hope this helps.

Its not because V1 sucks, its because the old AutoTap and FlashScan V1 cables were made when the LS1 PCM was the GM standard for comms and flashing. The E40, E38/67, LBZ Dmax, Allison etc ECM/TCMs need a more advanced interface to properly communicate with their CAN bus interface (vs old VPW that was the original OBDII std).

Sorry man, but you need a V2.

I swapped my original EFI Live / Autotap interface in for an ATUSB with software for a very reasonable price direct with Autotap. Their software allows me to scan Chrysler and Ford in addition to GM. It's a nice tool to have in the box.
