Default Brake switch power & TCC

In order for the torque converter to lockup up does it need to see 12v from the brake switch when pressing the peddle or no voltage?

Is there a PID to monitor whether or not the brake has been applied?

My converter isnt lockin on the firebird and I'm trying to figure it out.

See attached diagram... it looks like 12V present means the brake is not applied.

See pid GM.TSTATE03 for brake switch state.

See pids GM.TSTATE09,10 for TCC release reasons.

What brake switch do you have? I ran into the same thing when I had my shop doing lsx conversions on old cars. I had to change out the brake light switch on the peddle.

The joecar, it was just what I needed.

minytrker, I have the switch that has both the NC and NO posts. I do have it wired correctly and when I logged it when my wife drove it, it did lock on 2 occasions but she never felt it. The converter is WAY too loose and you cant feel it shift at all, in fact there is no RPM drop what so ever in any gear. The last car with nearly identical specs had a 2500RPM stall and it was too tight so with this car I went with a 3500RPM stall and it's just too loose. I'll send it back this winter for a re stall.

    Thanks for the help.
