Default E40 PO601 (ECM Flash eeprom checksum error)

We have a customer that’s been to the stealership after jump staring his car causing poor running, they reprogrammed the calibration only and it keeps throwing PO601 (ECM Flash Eeprom checksum error) the car runs but cuts out around 40mph and goes into reduced power mode.
would doing a full reflash possibly help or is the ECM dead, don’t really wont to waste a license if its got no chance of fixing the fault, but would like to try as a new computer is $1800 here. Thanks.

In for sale section- http://www.ecuoutlet.com/ - new E40 ECM $259.99.

    Bit cheaper than $1800
It's all good until it goes "Bang"

If you can get them to ship to NZ, eBay it. Picked up a P12 PCM for 19.99 shipped and a P10 for 26.49 shipped. Not too shabby IMO, was planning on 3-4x that cost for each. Saw an E40 for like $150 IIRC.

ok, what the dealer needs to do is reprogram the ECM using the 'replace module' option, this will reflash every part of the ECM regardless on what is in there already. It that still doesn't fix it then grab one from ECUOutlet and do the same process.
