Default Licening The OmniTuner DUAL-FLASH chips?

Ok, Don't know if you guys have seen these yet, but I'm wondering how EFILive License are handled if you install one of these chip sets. Do both chips have to be licensed? Or does EFILive use something else to be locked too? If a PCM has been previously licensed and then one of these is installed, will it need to be re-licensed?

We discussed this issue with Omnituner (and Moates) a month or two ago.

It requires a little planning ahead and involves you letting them know what the serial number is in your PCM. Then they will pre-flash the two switchable flash banks with a binary image that has the same serial number as your PCM before shipping it to you.

Then you can tune them both with the same FlashScan license that you used on your PCM.

Thanks Paul. I ordered one yesterday to try it out just for fun and they didn't ask me any questions, in fact there wasn't even an option on the ordering page for 512k or 1 meg, I had to just tell them what I wanted. It's not a big deal for me as I have the LS1B stream, but I will pass this info on.

So Paul if you are doing a new PCM it only matters that they match each other?

How do they flash the serial # on there ??

When the tune is put on the flash it is the raw BIN file that goes on.. and because both chips can be flashed with the same raw file they will be the same serial.

so this way it is only one vin credit per dual flash PCM

oh and if the PCM has previously been flashed with EFILive the tune from that chip can be copied and placed on both new dual flash chips and then the licencing is still kept

So whats to stop somebody from using the serial # you have licensed
on as many new PCMs as you want.

Read post #2. The tune .tun/.bin does not contain the PCM serial number which is used by FlashScan for licensing. So it sounds like you do need to have the dual chip manufactured/programmed specifically in order to utilize one licenses for EFILive. Doesn't sound like a big deal for the obvious benefit
