Are the drivers installed for the cable? When you go to control panel / system/ hardware, is anything showing not installed correctly?
Is the light on the unit itself flashing when you install it into the port?
"If you can leave a black mark on the pavement, from the exit of one corner to the braking point of the next one, you have enough horsepower."
The cable worked perfectly when I fired up ls1edit and programmed my PCM today
After the programming, I was going to record while I drove home from the shop. I got the error.
The cable has a single flashing red light when the PC is running, the car is running and the cable is hooked up.
There are no error messages in the "System" Devices.
You may have the scan tool set to look for an AutoTap cable. Open the Properties window and make sure the [Connection] tab page is set up like the image.
Before asking for help, please read this.
It was looking for Atap I changed it to what you requested and still get the error message.
A red LED flashing should only occur while data is being logged - it's the heartbeat signal that keeps the PCM sending data - it should flash about every 2 seconds. However, if you have not got a successful connection then the red LED should not be flashing.
The yellow OBD LED should flash all the time that it is connected to the vehicle with the ignition on. That yellow LED shows class-2 bus activity.
In the error report you posted:
Those messages are exclusively trying to contact an AutoTap cable. Most recent communication with vehicle:
15:51:56.468 Send: $01,$02,$23,$01,$00,$27
15:51:56.678 Send: $01,$01,$02,$00,$04
15:51:56.889 Send: $01,$02,$23,$01,$00,$27
...
You should be seeing messages of the form:
i.e. they should start with $A1 = transmit and $B1 = recieve. If you are not seeing any messages starting with $A1 then the Scan Tool software is not even attempting to contact the FlashScan cable. That points to a configuration issue with the Scan Tool software. Most recent communication with vehicle:

12:20:32.625 Recv: $B1,$A3,$00,$00,$54
...
To see those messages, just press Ctrl+G after attempting to connect to the FlashScan cable.
You could always try checking the box "Scan all cable types" to see if EFILive can automatically figure out the FlashScan connection.

Paul

That's the error data AFTER I changed it to the setting that you wanted
Ok, getting right back to the initial post, you said "I used the interface cable with LS1edit and it worked". I presume you mean you used the cable with EFILive's Tuning Tool software. There is no way that FlashScan will work with LS1Edit software.Originally Posted by eboggs_jkvl
If you meant that you were using LS1Edit's cable with LS1Edit's software then that has no bearing on whether EFILive/FlashScan will work or not work.
Download the attached USB program, plug in FlashScan and run the usbview.exe program. You should see the same information for FlashScan as the attached image. If you do not then you will probably need to re-install the FlashScan USB drivers.
