    Default Installation Error

Sorry if this is in the wrong forum, but when i try to install the latest version (7.3, i just downloaded it) it comes up with an error, Error 1305, error reading from file d:\efiliveV730_338_449_320\EfiLive\Efilive 7.3 scanning and tuning tool.msi

I have tried running the msi all by itself, same thing, even tried renaming the msi, same thing again, extracted it again, same thing. Does anyone have any info on this?

    Thanks

I know its probably not what you want to hear, but anytime you get an error saying the installer can't read from "xxxx", it usually means the download did not complete successfully or was corrupted in some way.

Try downloading the file again, and if possible download it using a different computer and/or different internet connection.

I have added MD5 checksums to important files on our web site. You can now verify their integrity using an MD5 checksum program.

Here is the MD5 utility that I used to create the MD5 checksums.
    http://www.efilive.com/downloads/dow...rivers.html#EF

Right click on the MD5 link next to the original V7.3.0 download link, then select "Save target as..." or "Save file as..." and then save the MD5 file into the same folder as the actual downloaded file.

Then run the EF Checksum Manager program, navigate to the folder in which you downloaded both he file and the *.md5 checksum file, then select the menu option Extra->Verify this Folder option.

If the file appears with a green tick icon then it is ok, if it has a red cross then it is corrupted and needs to be re-downloaded.

Be aware that some ISPs cache downloaded files. If the ISPs copy of the file is damaged, then no matter how many times you download it, it will still be corrupt. That is why earlier, I made the suggestion to use a different internet connection.

Ok, you know for sure then that the downloaded file is not corrupted.

It is possibly an issue with the Windows installer service on your machine. Please take a look at this aricle. It is for a different error message, but the resolution steps that are outlined are the same steps I recommend that you perform to resolve the issue you are seeing.

    Or possibly even this resolution:
