Does the MAFSensor have any affect to starting conditions?

Having a hard time resolving a starting issue on my Vortec 383. I am still tweaking the VE table and a tune is attached below. Does the MAF in low rpm/high vacuum areas affect the starting of the engine? I thought just the commanded fuel when cranking, VE when cranking, and spark when cranking were the only factors

Well, I think the answer is yes. To what degree is 'controlled' initially by the MAF.. I don't know the exact answer. It certainly seems that after the first few seconds after crank it does.

We have a different OS, but if I drastically alter my MAF Freq vs G/S I could make it so rich that the car would not start. I have tried it and it won't hold Idle if I say double the MAF Airflow at the Lowest Operating Frequencies.

Another question that is hard to prove or to know the exact MAF/VE Table interplay..but intuitively I believe it plays a part. Even at initial start-up.

Thats my educated 'guess' on it. MAF probably still needs to be tuned right even to start your car..
