I mean as long as it is scan & tune, even if it has been use for a V2 upgrade for the price it is good deal.

jcbduramax,
Get the serial number for the FlashScan V1 and email it to me at support@efilive.com. I can then check if the device has been used to upgrade to FlashScan V1. If it has been used to upgrade no further PCM licenses will be issued to that device. So, it pays to check.
Cheers,

Thanks! I was hoping a tech would chime in, I will get on that pronto

jcbduramax,
do what Tordne said (before you buy the V1):
Tordne(Andrew) will check to see if that V1 was ever upgraded for a V2 (i.e. a V2 purchased at a discount by virtue of having previously purchased a V1)
The reason for checking this is as follows:
- if the V1 was upgraded to a V2, then the V1 will not be able to accept anymore licenses.
- if the V1 was never upgraded for a V2, then the V1 will be able to accept new licenses (upto 25 licenses total).
If you are expecting to flash (add licenses) with this V1, then you require that the previous owner of the V1 did not upgrade the V1 for a V2.
If you are not expecting to flash, then it doesn't matter.
The other things is that if the FlashScan V1 was upgrade to FlashScan V2 that upgrade cannot be done again for the serial number. In short; you wouldn't be able to upgrade to FlashScan V2 using that device.

Andrew, what's the easiest way for him to get the serial number...?
Does he go into the tunetool and do Help->V1 Licensing...?
Or can he just turn it over and read the serial number from the back of it...?
Yeah 'Help->FlashScan V1 PCM Licensing' in the Tune Tool is the best. Probably have to get the current owner (unless the deal is already done) to do it

Thanks for the email. As per reply that FlashScan V1 has been used to upgrade to FlashScan V2 so the limitations noted above and in the email hold I'm afraid.

Bummer, I got trigger happy when I got my V2 upgrade and transferred my free license to my V2. Looking back I should have bought an extra one so it had at least 2 free then upgraded it. Oh well, water under the bridge now right?
Still, $200 for a V1 that can tune unlimited 97/98 cars plus scan everything VPW is a good price.
