Default LS3 and 4L60E - What standalone ECM and TCM to use?

I am currently working on an LS3 conversion - going into a Jeep rockcrawler. It will be backed with a 4l60E. I am looking for the most simple ECM/TCM/Harness to control this beast. Are my only options a E38 and T42? How about an older 58x 2 meg PCM?

If I went with a E38/T42, do I have to run an input speed sensor on the 4l60E?

    What do you guys think?

    Thanks,
    David

If the LS3 has the factory 58x reluctor, then your options are E67 or E38 for the ECM as everything else is 24x, and then a T42 for the trans. I dont know how hard or involved it would be to swap to a 24x reluctor, then you could just use a regular LS1 PCM for everything.

If you're building a custom harness for it anyway, an E38/T42 wouldnt be that much more involved than an LS1 PCM, plus you wouldnt have to rip the motor apart.

You shouldnt need an ISS, I know my 4L70E has one but no error codes are thrown if I turn it off in the calibration.

Well, just recently I know of an E67 that ran a 24x motor with a factory OS (not the GMPP one), the E38 could probably do it too. But, it's early days in testing.

Whoa! Is there a param in the ECM that can select 58x or 24x (doubt its that easy)?

What car is it off of?

pardon my gasser ignorance...but whats the advantage of running an E67 over an LS1 PCM on a 24x motor? Does the E67 handle boost better or something? In that case, couldnt you just swap reluctor wheels?

No GM factory cars had this option.

Yes you could swap reluctor wheels, there is mechanical options to fix this. It really just gives people other options to work with.
I know people would love to have the LS1 PCM run a 58x motor directly but I don't think that will ever happen.

The E67 has native boost support up to 2.5/3 Bar, more table resolution for spark tables, faster processor (so theoretically it reacts quicker to changing conditions, shows up in log files as more data is spit out), etc.

You could swap reluctor wheels, there's not reason a regular LS1 PCM couldnt be swapped to an E67 and T42 combo (E38 cant do regular VPW from what Ive heard) and a reluctor wheel swap. But there's really no point I can see to do that, with a COS for an LS1 PCM you have more options than an E67.

The plot thickens, who/what is running a 24x reluctor and an E67?

I know Lingenfelter makes a conversion box from 58x to 24x so you can run a Gen IV motor on Gen III electronics.

Seen quite a few ETC vehicles running this box with EMI/noise interferance issues. Seems to work great with the cable driven setups.
