Default How can I run 2 computers in a 2010 camaro one stock & one with a tune ????

    Hello,

I hope I chose the correct category to place my post.

Without all the technical terms and abbreviations that I don''t know, is it possible to copy a 2010 camaro L99 V8 A6 computer and run either computer at any given time.

Another words have two computers and swap them back and forth? One with the stock tune, and one with another tune, to play with, or other tweaks??

If so will the car or the computer tell on you ? Will it throw codes? Will it say hey I've gone 1000 miles since the the last time I was plugged in something must be wrong ??

Is the ECU checking in with the odometer or is the odometer on the ECU??

If possible what's the process? And how much does a new 2010 camaro computer go for right now?

What is the computer part number or spec number ? (is there more than one part to it?) E38??

What software do I need to do it ??

Any links to the parts or software??

I just want to play with stuff. My car is 100% stock. I like to tinker and learn stuff. I'd like to turn off the AFM and play with the cooling fans, shift points, tune it, ect.. But leave it stock.

The 2010 ECM is 12633238. You can find the price at pace or gmpartsdirect etc or ACDelco.

It will need to be flashed by a dealer (or Chuck at Corvettes of Westchester) so that it knows who it is and can run your car.

In the past ECM's have been swappable. GM may have added something for 2010+ that makes this harder. The VATS (security) at the very least needs to be learned on any replacement ECM. Keys are exchanged between ECM/BCM/IP/Ign key. Also the crank angle sensor error needs to be learned.

If you have EFILive you have the right tools. And maybe a good idea to get the 2010 GM service information.

You are out to dry on the TCM side, the T43 is built into the trans so swapping between 2 modules isnt going to happen. For the ECM, an E38 runs about $130+ship online, usually you can have it programmed with your VIN so all you have to do is plug it in (new ECMs learn security instantly).

If you built a wiring harness that split the ECM connectors, if you isolated them when that side was not in use it theoretically could work. Honestly its probably too much trouble, swapping ECMs takes only a minute or two after you've done it the first time.

This is from GMPD (I can't tell if they're available/in-stock):

    12625455 Emission Control System Hardware MODULE Price:$143.49 S&H:$31.57 Total:$175.06

Is that the right part number...?

    Yes for '09 ECM. '10 = 12633238.

You would think GM could manage to design the software so that every year didnt need to have a different part for every model year. They manage to turn the same hardware into different hardware with maybe only one bit being different. Bing.....divide by zero and disappear.

Maybe these guys have not heard of "parts proliferation" prevention.

Bummer, didnt even pay attention to that. Almost bought my extra E67/T42 combo there, just clicked the E38 screen and checked the price.
