If you plug the V2 into the truck with the USB disconnected, can you get the VIN from the truck or read codes??

When you plug it in the car does it light up?
    Has it ever worked?
Is the key all the way on when you tried this?

    usually the cigarette lighter fuse.

the 12v supply to the OBD port is on the same electrical bus as the lighter fuse. (at least on an '05)

actually it was the ecm fuse under the hood in the fuse box. the v2 had power from the obdII port but that is a common issue as well
