My buddy has a 98 K1500 with a 5.0 Vortec engine, he has a P0420 code coming up CAT code, can I just go in and make it no MIL not reported until he gets a new CAT? He just doesn't want to look at the light all the time.

You need the V2 unit to do what you suggested on a 98.
98 GMC RCSB 2WD, Internally stock 305 w/Twin T-3 junkyard Turbos,4L80e,Ramjet intake,42lb.inj., 0411PCM, COS3,4675LBS w/me in it. Best Time on 5 passes-13.01@110
Lextech, Justin has a V2 for his Dmax and for at least his buddy's P12 so he's good there!
Justin, I think you should still leave the code reported, just shut the MIL light off. Or you can kill both. Its gonna cost a license, might be about the same price for your buddy to buy a cat.

Yep, thanks Erik, thats what i told him, I suggested he buy a new high flow cat instead, is there much that can be done with his truck? It is a 5 speed manual so I can't imagine it has anything holding it back (TQ managment)??
BTW Erik, I think we figured out the P12 issue, he had a compustar alarm in it, they used the OBDII port to steal the juice from. We are going to try again.
