Default Is the V2 ODB2 cable an active or passive device?

I've seen comments about not leaving the ODB2 cable plugged in, but these seem to be related to older non-V2 devices.
I'm wondering if just the V2 -> ODB2 cable (without the V2 connected) will drain the battery.

Nope, the cable is just a cable. Once you plug the V2 onto the end of it, it will drain the batt.

If you leave the cable plugged in by itself, just be sure nothing shorts the RJ end of it.
